The Hidden Power Tools Hidden Power tools, included with the book The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2, add to the feature set already in Elements. These tools are designed to work either Elements 1 or Elements 2 in the English language version of Elements on either Mac or PC (please contact the author about using Hidden Power tools with foreign language versions of Elements). Tools from The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2 will not work with Elements 3. However, an upgrade option is being provided to those who purchased The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2 who only want to purchase the new tools. Features Added by Hidden Power Tools Users who are familiar with Photoshop features (such as curves, channels, layer masks, color balance, channel mixer, calculations, snapshots, and guides) will be happy to find many of these valuable features in Elements, included as part of the Hidden Power tool set. Instruction for using the tools can be found in the text of the Hidden Power book. These tools work as an integrated part of the Elements interface — not as add-ons — so you don't have to leave Elements to use them. The addition of these tools brings Photoshop Elements daringly close to the power of Photoshop, for hundreds of dollars less. Along with old favorites like curves and guides, Hidden Power tools add unique functions to help you work intelligently with digital images to reduce noise, sharpen effectively, color correct, create custom vectors, make duotones, make CMYK separations, and get professional results — using Elements alone. Additional tools can be found on the website, such as the Dynamic Image tool (which can enhance the dynamics of almost any image) and the Mend tool (a Healing tool that works for Elements 1 and 2 users, who don't have Healing). Some of tools are available for free, and others can be purchased for a small fee. Additional tools will work whether you have the Hidden Power book or not. Tools that can be downloaded from the site and tools from the book are not the same — and there is very little, if any, cross over between available tool sets. If you have the book, get the free tools; if you have the free tools and think they are valuable, get the book.
