Free Hidden Power tools were originally meant
to do several things: first, they were to provide demos for some of the tools in the
Hidden Power book; Second, they would provide new functionality to compliment tools released with
the book added per user suggestions; and, third, they would provide a customizable
actions player interface for Elements users on Elements 1 and 2 for Mac
and PC.
The free tools were a means of promoting
the idea that you could ramp up the power of Elements with Hidden Power tools. They were free to everyone, and the goal was really to try and attract other actions writers and developers to work on new tools for Elements, hopefully to share with the Hidden Power audience. Regretfully it didn't work as planned. People 'borrowed' the idea. It ended up working out for noone.
The final release of the free tools for Elements 1
and 2 was Hidden Power Actions III. This free tool set can be downloaded
here. Despite the name, it only works in Elements 1 and 2. The set will not install to Elements 3 because of changes
Adobe made to Elements for the new release. A new set of free tools will be available for Elements 3 users some time in the first quarter of 2005.
