One of the most talked about enhancements in recent releases of Photoshop has been the Healing tool. Almost like magic, the tool can help users make corrections to scratches, dust, spots, wrinkles, birthmarks and other image flaws without a lot of adjustment and fuss. You simply sample a donor area (like you would with the clone tool) and then apply the sample to a target to cover the damage. Before the correction is completed, Photoshop compares the clone and the original, and makes a smart correction that fits better with the image than cloning or manual adjustment can. Until now, Elements users have only heard about what Healing can do. The Mend tool helps users make quick work of difficult corrections just like Healing can. Like the Healing tool, the Mend tool actually compares the sampled area (clone) with the target and makes adjustments based on the content of the image. These adjustments help the correction blend into the image seamlessly, making for better corrections, and faster image editing.
